This collection consists of chiefly of correspondence from constituents of Raymond Dzendzel concerning legislation and covers the years 1954-1966. It also contains editorials and releases from the Democratic State Central Committee, and miscellaneous reports and pamphlets. The collection includes general correspondence for the years 1963-64; status of bills sponsored and co-sponsored by Dzendzel for 1965; Democratic majority proposals for 1966; correspondence relating to legislation for the years 1962-1966; materials relating to the stop and frisk and search and seizure law, covering the period Jan. to Apr. 1966; Democratic State Central Committee releases for Jan. to Dec., 1964; editorials covering a wide range of subjects, covering the periods from Jan., 1965 to Sept. 16, 1966; Michigan reports of the legislature, for periods May 17, 1965 to Dec. 13, 1966; materials relating to "Operation Europe", a trade trip to several European cities, Jan. 1965 to Nov. 1966; and published reports of committees and departments maintained by Dzendzel covering the years 1954 to 1966.

Raymond D. Dzendzel was born on July 29, 1921 at Port Clinton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Redford High School and the Detroit Institute of Technology with a B.A. degree. He married Eleanor Borland in 1947 and they had four children, Sandra Kaye, Judith Ann, Cheryl Lynn, and Lee Ann. He was a business representative, a member of Carpenter's Local 982, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard aboard the USS Peoria.
